Austin, Texas

Leigh Taylor Wyatt attended the University of Cincinnati for Fine Arts between 1990 and 1992. After taking several classes at a glassblowing studio in Ohio, she moved to New Orleans to study with Jim Mongrain and Jonothan Christie. In 1995 she began attending The Appalachian Center for Crafts with Curt Brock. During the year and a half at the Craft Center she attended classes with Dick Marquis at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine, and Lino Tagliapietra at Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. She worked for Therman Statom during the summer of 1996 as his artist assistant. In 1997 Miss Wyatt won the Niche Award for Glass, as well as opened her own studio in Newburgh, Indiana where she worked for four years. She attended Haystack in 1998 with Richard Royal. In 1999 she received an NEA Grant to produce the Governor's Art Awards. In 2005 Leigh attended class in Adelaide, Australia with Giles Bettison. In 2006, Leigh moved to Texas to be closer to family and continue her glass career. After moving to the Austin area, Wyatt realized the need for a public access studio. For Wyatt, being part of the glass community has been as important as the medium and creating art.
